God is messing with mine for sure.
I have heard so many awesome stories of giving and growing and hope this week. And last week it felt like it was the opposite. Every whereI looked was hurt and sorrow and divorce and pain.
I needed this week to restore my soul.
I want whatever character traits God wants me to have. Even if its hard.
And I know it will be.
Change is always hard.
But the rewards....
Oh so worth it. A closer relationship with God is always worth it.
so yesterday while we were at the indoor pool it was raining again for the fourth day (? i think) in a row. but it was REALLY raining hard.
i decided we needed to go home becuase of the creeper couple that came to the hotel pool and was not going to stop making out even if we were in the room.
driving home was NUTS. everything was flooded. my kids were yelling and so excited! Annie yelled "THIS IS AWESOME!!!!" i yelled back "NO THIS IS NOT AWESOME! EVERYONE CHILL OUT! I NEED TO DRIVE SO WE DON'T CRASH!"
i don't think i had ever driven in that kind of rain?!
we made it home and so did Mr. Duerksen...on a sand road?!
but then after dinner we went out to look around and this was our road!
in the middle of that is a deep creek... so there was no driving through that.
we messed around a little while in the shallow side of it.
then we decided we should probably go to the Craft House out the other way in case we got more rain that night and the other creek would flood. better to be out than stuck.
so everyone rushed around to grab clothes and snacks and games to entertain ourselves. we fed the chickens and kitties. we loaded in the car. we were drenched from the rain.
it took us probably 20 minutes to get out the door.
i backed out of our driveway... drove 20 feet.... too late.
the other end of the road was as deep or deeper.
oh my. we were trapped in our own home.
we went inside, soaking wet and bummed out and then decided to make the best of it.
we watched Home Alone and ate ice cream sundaes. i mean... that is the logical thing to do?!
in the morning the creek had receded back off the road but still up to the tippy top of the bridge. we were able to get out for the day and everything is fine.
such an adventure!
i love it!
but now we know that if we need to get out... we need to BE QUICK. it was a good lesson.
super short little phone video. annie was told she could go about 10 feet but she thought i said it was 10 feet deep. it was... just not where she was.
now i am ready for a little sunshine. it IS summer ya know???
i thought we'd spend everyday at the pool till school starts!
i am not happy with the internet at my house. every photo takes F O R E V E R to up load. and i have a bajillion pictures to upload.
we are winding down with summer over here. my kids go back to school in two weeks!
i have been on a little health journey... all year but especially since the half marathon. bottom line: eating healthy and working out takes TIME. it's kind of annoying. planning ahead what you are going to eat.... figuring out how to work in an hour-ish of exercise. it's working but i just wish it was easy. but if it was easy.... then we'd all be thin and healthy right?!
i will tell you about this more this week.
and.... i am working on a new website. that is sooo close to being done. and wow.... there is so much to learn! but i like it and i hope you do too!
craft weekend starts up again soon. so i am making new crafts and gathering supplies for that. i love making a NEW project for the first time... SO EXCITING! and these are awesome.
check out all the new fabric that came today for Craft Weekend. i order mostly from Hawthorne Threads. i buy from joann's, hobby lobby and my local quilt shop too.
